COCKLEFIGHTING

The Emberfall Tide is on, 46 days left.

Privacy Policy

Cocklefighting is a free browser game. This policy explains what we store and why. In short: we only keep what is needed to run your cockle and the game around it. We do not sell your data, show ads, or track you around the web.

Who we are

Cocklefighting (“the game”, “we”) is the data controller for the information described here.

No contact address is published for this deployment. You do not need one to leave: everything below is something you can do yourself, from inside the game.

What we store

  • Sign-in identity. When you sign in with Google, we receive and store a provider name, the unique account ID they give us, and your email address. If you use a passkey, we store the public key and credential ID your device creates. We never see or store your password or your device’s private key.
  • Your cockle and game state. The name you choose, your shell, stats, level, gold, gear, charms, battle log, trophies and leaderboard position.
  • Things you write. Forum threads and replies, and private messages you send to other players.
  • A session cookie. One signed, httpOnly cookie that keeps you signed in. It holds only a session reference, no personal details, and is not used for advertising.
  • Limited technical data. We briefly use your IP address to rate limit actions and curb abuse. We collect aggregate, anonymised page-view counts for site performance. No tracking cookies are used and no advertising profiles are built.

What we do not do

We do not sell or rent your data. We do not serve advertising. We do not process payments (the game is free). We do not track you across other websites.

Who can see what

Your cockle name, avatar, level, titles, leaderboard rank, forum posts and profile page are visible to other players. That is the game. Your email and sign-in identity are never shown to other players. Private messages are visible only to you and the recipient.

How long we keep it

We keep your account and game data for as long as your account exists, so you can carry on playing. Battle reports are kept for 14 days and private messages for 90 days. Each message box holds its most recent 250 bottles, and older ones fall away on their own.

Deleting your account

You can do this yourself, at any time, without asking anyone. It is at the foot of your account, under “Close account”. It takes effect immediately and cannot be undone.

Because it cannot be undone, the last step is the same proof you sign in with, asked for again: a passkey account confirms with its passkey, and a Google account signs in to Google again. Nobody who merely has your unlocked browser can close your account.

Deleted: every cockle you own, in every world, and everything on each of them; your sign-in identity and email; your passkeys; every session; every battle report; and every private message you have sent or received.

Deleting one cockle instead. An account can hold several cockles, so retiring one is a separate, smaller step on the same account page, under “Cockles”, beside each cockle listed there. It removes that cockle and everything on it, on the same terms as above, and leaves your account, your sign-in and your other cockles alone.

Kept, with your name taken off: forum threads and replies. Other players took part in those conversations, so the words remain and the author becomes “A departed cockle”, no longer linked to your identity.

Because sign-in is handled by Google or your passkey, you can also revoke the game’s access from those providers directly.

Children

Cocklefighting is a light-hearted game for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum digital-consent age in your country). Do not sign up if you are under that age.

Changes

If we change how we handle data, we will update this page. Continuing to play after a change means you accept the updated policy.
